Dinghy site + brand

Overview

So, you've set yourself up in your new life as a freelancer. Shiny new business cards? Check. A sleek portfolio showcasing your amazing work? Check. Maybe you've even grown a beard and put on some stylish glasses to complete the look. Ok, maybe not that part—but you've got your freelancer insurance sorted out, right? Wait, what?

I was approached by Dinghy's founders, Rob, Ed, and Ben, to help refine their insurance purchase process. From there, I had the opportunity to work on several other great projects, including illustration, motion design, and branding.

Branding

A key aspect of the work was to work establish a brand style. I worked with the partners to help develop some ideas that they already had started to work on and helped apply them across an array of collateral such as business cards, t-shirts, printed posters and deck templates.

Illustration

As part of the design, I also got the chance to get creative with some illustration work. I helped to setup an illustration library in Sketch that could quickly and easily be used to create new scenes for marketing purposes. This created a sense of consistency in the design and also enabled new marketing material to be produced quickly and efficiently.

Motion graphics

The motion work for Dinghy was meant to be eye-catching and punchy. I went with a typographic approach that was easy to replicate across the many different ads I needed to create. The illustration was designed in Sketch and imported into After Effects for animation.
